I’m Melli, I’m an educator and coach

I teach purpose driven people how to stay mentally strong so that they can handle life’s challenges effectively, perform at their peak and unlock their potential so that they can make a meaningful difference in the world.

I’m also an entrepreneur. I’m the co-founder of Mindfulness.com and the Mindfulness Summit, the world’s largest mindfulness conference. The summit is a not-for-profit project which has raised over $750,000 for mental health charities around the world.

Over the last decade I’ve taught thousands of people from around the world about mindfulness and mental strength. I’ve also had my own experiences of struggle, burnout and breakdown while doing my own purpose driven work.

What I have come to see very clearly is that when we have a big mission that we really care about, our mindset is often the determining factor in whether that vision becomes a reality or never gets accomplished.

Our mind can be our own worst enemy that holds us back, drags us down and burns us out or it can be our greatest asset and the key to unlocking our potential, our peak performance and our passion.

After a decade of teaching and being an entrepreneur in purpose driven work I’ve distilled and synthesised a unique blend of knowledge on peak performance, mindset, mindfulness, and stress management into ‘mindfulness-based mental strength training’. A four step method specifically designed to help purpose driven achievers shift out of mental stress and struggle and into mental strength.

I grew up in some ways, very blessed. Riding horses with my brothers, eating fruit from trees, swimming in creeks with my friends. But then there was also darkness, a shadow over my life that I couldn't shake.

By the age of seventeen trauma from my childhood pulled me down into depression and an eating disorder. I hit a crisis point. I was in so much pain that I had to make a decision. Either I take my own life or I find out if it is possible to be free of this pain. I chose life.

I had no idea where to start so I went to the school library and started to read everything I could find on how to be happy. I read books saying you could train your mind to let go of suffering through meditation, so I went to my first meditation course. And I had a series of breakthroughs that totally changed my mind, healed me in profound ways and ultimately changed the course of my entire life.

And over time as I continued my journey I also started to understand that not only could I ease my suffering and stress but I could also access inner strength, a profound sense of wellbeing and incredible mental clarity and peace and I saw how how we might be able to use that strength, that human potential to change the world for the better.

That became my fascination.

I really believe that when people are unlocked from stress and struggle, when they are at their best, they naturally become a force for good and a locus of sanity, kindness and wisdom in the world.

We are living in extraordinary times right now. The challenges that we face are significant and growing, but I believe that if we can unlock the best in human potential, we can work together to solve the world’s most meaningful problems and create a more sustainable, equal, and peaceful world.

You buy one I give one. We’re unlocking human potential together

My life’s work centres around unlocking human potential. But not everyone has an equal opportunity to realise their potential. Nearly 3 in 4 children in Australia’s remote areas lack access to education up to the 10th grade. This lack of opportunity means that, through no fault of their own, these children will most often be unqualified for many of today’s jobs – and may miss out on the changes we all take for granted.

If anyone needs their potential elevated, it’s these kids. That’s why with every Headstrong (or coaching program) purchased, I immediately give a child in remote Australia one month of access to online educational resources.

This project by Dot Com Mob (through B1G1) sets up technological education centres in Australia’s most remote regions with the fewest scholastic opportunities. These innovative centres give children access to online and electronic educational resources, helping close the gap in their education. I believe everyone deserves a chance to elevate their potential.
