ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Melli O’Brien is a mindfulness teacher, best selling author and co-founder of Mindfulnes.com, who's work has helped over a million people globally.

In 2025 she was named one of the most powerful women in the mindfulness movement by mindful magazine.

She is the creator of the Deep Resilience Method. A trademarked method combining mindfulness with cutting-edge, evidence based mental resilience skills that is based on a core understanding: the human mind is shaped by primal conditioning and runs on what Melli calls a Survival Operating System.

When the Survival Operating System is the primary organising force shaping our inner lives—which it is for most of us when the mind is untrained—it becomes the major source of our inner struggles, especially in hard times. It can keep us trapped in anxiety, negative thinking, emotional reactivity and patterns that no longer serve us.

But survival mode is not the only way our inner system can be organised. We can learn to shift into a Wisdom-Based Operating System. One that allows us to let go of the majority of the tension and struggle created by the mind and live with greater calm, clarity, courage, compassion, strength and wisdom.
